New EU packaging rules begin to apply: Wolf confirms EU and UK packaging compliance

For manufacturers supplying safety-critical equipment into international markets, compliance does not end with the product itself.

The way products are packaged, transported and supplied is also increasingly subject to environmental and regulatory requirements. As those requirements continue to develop, Wolf Safety has issued an EU and UK Declaration of Conformity covering packaging across the wide range of Wolf ATEX and IECEx certified products.

The declaration covers the requirements of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40, together with the UK's Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024 No. 1332. PPWR entered into force in February 2025 and begins to apply generally across the EU from 12 August 2026, with further requirements being introduced on a phased basis.

PPWR replaces the previous EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive and is intended to support the reduction of packaging waste, increase recyclability and encourage greater reuse of packaging materials across the European market.

Supporting customers across international markets

Wolf's latest declaration provides customers and distribution partners with additional assurance that the packaging accompanying relevant Wolf products has been assessed against applicable EU and UK requirements, based on information received from Wolf's suppliers and analytical results available to date.

Beyond administrative compliance, Wolf continually monitors the reuse of packaging and the use of one-off packaging as part of its ongoing approach to responsible product supply. This supports customers and distributors operating within increasingly complex regulatory and environmental frameworks.

It is a practical approach to an area of regulation that is becoming an increasingly important consideration for manufacturers, distributors and customers alike.

The EU and UK Declaration of Conformity is issued under the sole responsibility of Wolf Safety Lamp Company Limited and was signed by Technical Director Gareth Andrews on 12 August 2026.
