We recently spoke to Mitchell Robinson, Wolf's Production Supervisor, who oversees daily manufacturing operations and ensures that our production processes run smoothly. Mitchell works closely with the production team to help maintain quality standards and optimise efficiency on the factory floor.

Mitchell Robinson, Wolf's Production Supervisor

  • Tell us a little bit about your background before joining Wolf?

Before Wolf, I did a lot of part time work, I had about 3 jobs in that time. I was a stock assistant at JD Sports, I had a Job at a night club as a glass collector but just before joining wolf I worked in a call center.

  • Why did you decide to join Wolf?

At the time I was working in the call center, so I was stuck in a dead end job, and I started to realise that if I didn’t do something about it I’d be stuck here. I wanted to find an opportunity to grow and progress, so I was searching for apprenticeships and one within Wolf came up, so I just went for it

  • What is your current role within Wolf and what do you enjoy most about it?

My current role is Production Supervisor, and the thing I enjoy most is helping people and getting the job done

  • What challenges do you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?

Trying to differentiate between keeping people happy but also getting tasks complete on time, I overcome it by knowing that getting the task done is my primary role.

  • How has your role evolved since you first joined the company?

I started off as an apprentice, as an operative helping to manufacture and assemble our products, then I moved into Logistics and helped out with exports. Now, I’ve taken on more responsibilities in my role of Production Supervisor

  • How do you think what you do helps contribute to Wolf’s success?

I’m part of a great team that works together – for a clock to work, all the cogs need to work, and I’m one of those cogs.

  • Describe what a typical day looks like for you?

It starts early, when I come in and open up the factory.  Then I’ll check inventory against stock targets and sales orders, and create works orders as needed.  I’ll then allocate these to the appropriate people and departments.  Then, throughout the day, I’ll follow up and make sure everything’s running smoothly and lend a hand if necessary and ensure that customer orders get to dispatch for packing to meet their delivery requirements.

  • What’s one aspect of Wolf Safety’s products or services that you think sets the company apart from its competitors?

I would say that one of the things is the consistently high product quality standards we have.  All our products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality and every team member is trained to adhere to these standards.  Every product that leaves the door is as good as every other product we make.

  • What is one thing you think people outside the company might not know about Wolf Safety?

One thing that people may not know? Probably the global impact that a company of this size, and in this location, has.  Our products, made in Sheffield, England, can be found in all corners of the world!

  • What are your hobbies outside work?

I’m a very active person, and take part in many activities that I’d call hobbies.  Mostly it’s playing football or going boxing.

  • What is the most nerve-wracking thing you have ever had to do?

I’d say it was the time when I had to give a public talk at Church in front of about 50/60 people. I had to preach a sermon about the nature of relationships

  • And finally, do you have any secret talents?

I don’t know if I have any… If I put my heart and soul into it, I can make some good Jamaican munch

Thank you Mitchell, it's been great talking to you!

"I usually meet up with some friends on Tuesdays and Thursdays to play football at Norton. We all get together for some casual games. It's a great way to stay active while having fun, just a chance to enjoy the sport with good company."
