2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the twinning between Bochum, Germany, and Sheffield, UK. Two cities with the common histories of coal, steel and heavy industry.

To mark this significant anniversary, the City of Bochum orgainsed an exhibition of products made in Sheffield at the historical Haus Kemnade museum, to which Wolf Safety contributed a selection of our lights and torches from our past and current product ranges.

And some of Wolf's state of the art ATEX safety lighting was also on display
Alex Jackson, Managing Director of Wolf Safety Lamp Company, was delighted to accept an invitation to visit the City and see the exhibition in person. The visit to Bochum was hosted by Lisa Methling and Christoph Schlierkamp from the City of Bochum. As well as a tour of the exhibition at Haus Kemnade, the day included a visit to the Bochum Economic Development Corporation to hear from Maurice Reinhard about business support and opportunities in Bochum, and to the Rathaus, Bochum’s grand town hall. The day ended at the German National Mining Museum – the Deutshes Bergbau-Museum Bochum – to visit the underground display to see historical examples of compressed air lamps, a product technology that Wolf has greatly improved over the years and continues to offer today as the Turbolite A-TL44C and A-TL-45C, for use in all ATEX and Ex Group II Zone 1 applications, including offshore oil and gas and on ships carrying hazardous cargoes.

Wolf Safety was a pioneer in developing pneumatic lamps, and by 1930 had designs for 2 models - a 6 volt model taking a 50 watt bulb, and a 12 volt model with a 100 watt bulb and Wolf "Airturbo" lamps were used in mines and ships throughout the world - as they still are to this day.

One of Wolf's newest products, the TY-300 Portable ATEX LED Inspection Light, was also on display at the exhibition
And of course no trip to Bochum would be complete without sampling what's claimed to be the best Currywurst in Germany!
